Yasaka Shrine

Yasaka Shrine is on the east end of Shijo-dori Street, the main street of Kyoto.
The shrine is famous as a venue of Gion festival, which is one of the three main festivals of Japan.
They say people will become beautiful when they offer prayers at the Utsukushigozensya, one of affiliated sub-shrines, after drinking sacred strength water (Gion-sinsui).
The Gion Shrine is affectionately called as “Gion-san” by people in Kyoto.

Yasui Konpiragu Shrine

Enkiri-enmusubi-ishi (a stone monument for braking off bad relations and initiating good ones) is famous.
It is said that you can cut down bad relationships and start good relationships with people when you go through the hole on the monument.
The shrine has become popular recently and there are many foreign visitors.

Kiyomizu-dera Temple

Cityscape of Kyoto viewed from the Stage of Kiyomizu (wooden main hall built on a steep cliff) is spectacular, which is a must-see sight.
You can enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms in spring and colored maple trees in autumn, which are very touching sceneries.
Otowa Waterfall has three streams. It is believed that the left stream grants success in study, the one in the center grants success in love, and the right one grants long life.

Kodaiji Temple

There are Otama-ya (memorial hall enshrining Hideyoshi Toyotomi and his wife) decollated with gold lacquer works in Momoyama style,and gold lacquer furnishing goods which are said to be owned by Nene, Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s wife.
Gold lacquerware are traditional lacquerware set with gold-relief.
